Durable Solid Hardwood Flooring Installation

Kasa Renos provides master-level installation of premium natural hardwood floors, the gold standard for timeless beauty and longevity. Solid hardwood is more than just a floor covering; it is a permanent architectural feature that adds warmth, character, and significant value to your property. Our dedicated craftsmen respect this premium material, employing a meticulous, time-honoured process to ensure your new floor is not only beautiful from day one but will last for generations to come.

The Gold Standard of Authentic Flooring

Solid hardwood has been the premier flooring choice for centuries for good reason. It offers an authentic, natural beauty and a range of benefits that manufactured products can only imitate.

Timeless Beauty & Authenticity:

Each plank is milled from a single, solid piece of wood, possessing a unique grain, character, and natural warmth that cannot be replicated. It is the true, authentic article.

A Lifetime Investment:

This is a floor for life. The defining feature of solid hardwood is its ability to be sanded and refinished multiple times over its lifespan, allowing it to be renewed or restyled for new generations. A properly cared-for floor can last over 100 years.

Increases Property Value:

Solid hardwood flooring is consistently one of the most desired features for homebuyers in Toronto. It is a proven investment that adds significant and lasting value to your home.

Healthy & Natural:

As a natural product, solid hardwood does not trap dust, pollen, or other allergens, contributing to better indoor air quality. It is also exceptionally easy to keep clean.

Our 4-Step Hardwood Flooring Installation Process

1. Consultation & Material Acclimation:

Our process begins with an on-site consultation and precise measurement. Critically, we coordinate the delivery of your new hardwood to your home 7-14 days prior to installation to allow it to acclimate to your property’s specific temperature and humidity.

2. Detailed Subfloor Preparation:

We ensure the wood subfloor is structurally sound, perfectly clean, and flat. We take multiple moisture readings of both the subfloor and the hardwood to ensure they are in equilibrium before beginning the installation.

3. Precision Nailing & Layout:

Our craftsmen begin by laying out the planks for a natural, random appearance. Each plank is then expertly fastened to the subfloor using a professional pneumatic flooring nailer, ensuring a secure, squeak-free result while maintaining a necessary expansion gap along the walls.

4. Finishing Touches & Completion:

We complete the project by installing baseboards or quarter-round trim to artfully conceal the expansion gap. We then perform a final cleanup and conduct a walkthrough with you to present your beautiful new floor.

Strict Acclimation & Moisture Testing

This is the most critical step for a successful installation, and we never compromise on it. By ensuring the wood is properly acclimated, we prevent future issues like excessive gapping in winter or buckling in summer.

Professional Nail-Down Technique

We use the proper tools and techniques to ensure every plank is securely fastened. This time-tested method provides the most stable and long-lasting installation for solid hardwood.

Mastering the Expansion Gap

Wood naturally expands and contracts with humidity. We incorporate a precise expansion gap around the perimeter of the room, which is essential for the floor's health and is expertly concealed by your baseboards for a flawless finish.

A Respect for the Material

Our installers are true craftsmen who understand and respect the nuances of working with a natural, living material. This approach is evident in the quality of the finished product.

Frequently Asked Questions about Hardwood Flooring Installation

Solid hardwood is one piece of solid wood from top to bottom. Engineered hardwood has a top layer of real hardwood bonded to multiple layers of plywood. While solid hardwood can be refinished more times, engineered hardwood offers more stability against humidity changes.
Wood is a natural material that swells and shrinks with changes in humidity and temperature. Acclimation allows the moisture content of the wood to equalize with the conditions in your home before it is installed, which is the single most important step in preventing future gapping or buckling.
Generally, no. Solid hardwood must be nailed into a wood subfloor (like plywood). It is not recommended for installation directly over concrete slabs, which are common in basements and most condo buildings. Engineered hardwood is the better choice for these applications.
A standard solid hardwood floor can typically be sanded and refinished 4 to 6 times over its lifespan, allowing you to completely renew its appearance for decades to come.
Yes. All wood flooring, regardless of species, will show some signs of wear over time. The hardness of the wood (measured by the Janka scale) determines how resistant it is to denting. Scratches are typically in the finish and can be repaired or fully removed during a future refinishing.
We recommend using a microfiber dust mop for regular cleaning. For a deeper clean, use a professional, pH-neutral hardwood floor cleaner that is specifically recommended by the finish manufacturer. Never use water and vinegar, soap-based detergents, or steam cleaners on your hardwood.
